Black Sea Battle Lab: Svartehavslaben

Applied Defence Research in the Maritime Domain: 

A new project under NDUC is the Black Sea Battle Lab (BBL) – a multidisciplinary research collaboration between the Norwegian Defence University College and the National Defence University of Ukraine, including their respective naval academies. BBL aims to generate operationally relevant knowledge on maritime security challenges, sea power, and leadership, with a particular focus on the conflict in the Black Sea region. Through joint data collection, analysis, and publication, BBL contributes to strengthening total defence and promoting civil-military cooperation. The initiative combines academic depth with practical insight and reflects NATO’s commitment to international collaboration and applied defence research.
