Many states in Eastern-Asia and Europe have China as their most important trading partner, and at the same time they have the U.S. as their most important ally and security guarantor.

Multiple states try to avoid picking side between the U.S. and China by hedging. This research project examines how sustainable this strategy is, and if it is possible to continue to have it both ways.
