The new “Security in Asia” research program is led by professor Øystein Tunsjø at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies. The following sub-projects is a part of the program:

  1. The new superpower rivalry between the U.S. and China
  2. China’s hybrid and coercive activities
  3. China’s “Belt and Road”-initiative (BRI), and particularly China’s interest for the Arctic and partnership with Russia
  4. The interaction between China, Russia, India, Japan, and the U.S., and regional conflicts in Asia
  5. China’s military development, regional rearmament, and maritime security
  6. NATO-China: How does the U.S.-China rivalry and military developments in East-Asia affect the NATO alliance.
