Ann Helén Dybwad
Dybwad has extensive experience in peace support operations through her military career. She has served in four UN peace missions, in addition to several deployments to the Balkans and Afghanistan.
She holds a Cand. Mag. degree on international politics, peace and conflict studies, and third world relations from Molde College in Norway and Umeå University in Sweden.
She earned her Master of Arts in international policy studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California, USA, specialising in UN/NATO operations. She also holds a Certificate in Nonproliferation Studies from the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at MIIS.
Throughout her military career, Dybwad has served for many years in joint staffs, including the Norwegian National Joint Headquarters. In 2025, she joined the the Norwegian Armed Forces International Center at the Norwegian Defence University College (NDUC), Staff and Command College, as a senior instructor in UN/NATO operations.
Dybwad authored NODEFIC’s first publication, “Future Peace Operations – Learning from the Past”, in 1998.
