Marit Rye-Ramberg

Head of International Cooperation, Marit Rye-Ramberg assumed her duties at the Norwegian Defence University College (NDUC) in March 2020 after holding several positions in the Norwegian Army for 13 years. 

As NDUC`s Head of International Cooperation, Rye-Ramberg is responsible for the strategic level of Internationalization for all the branches under the NDUC umbrella. She is also a member of the Deans leadership group at NDUC HQ. 

Head of Internationalization Rye-Ramberg has held various positions within the Norwegian Armed Forces from 2008. Most recently she was Senior Advisor Strategic Communication to the Chief of the Army in the Army General staff, a position she held from 2012 to 2020. She was Head of Information for the Norwegian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) 2008–2012. 

Her deployments include tours to Chad, the Central African Republic and Afghanistan. Captain Rye-Ramberg was the press- and information officer for the Norwegian contribution to the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic and Chad (MINURCAT) 2008–2009. Captain Rye-Ramberg was the PSYOPS Media Director in Regional Command North, International Security Assistance Force, Afghanistan 2011–2012. 

From 2005- 2006 Rye-Ramberg worked as an advisor at the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She worked as an Editor and Project Manager for the Norwegian Atlantic Committee from 2006 to 2008. 2008– 2009 she worked as a researcher at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, focusing on strategic communication. From 2013 to 2014 Rye-Ramberg joined Lund University, Sweden as a visiting Scholar, teaching and researching the use of strategic communication in war and conflict zones. 

Rye-Ramberg holds a master’s degrees (MSc) from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), England in Soviet and Post- Soviet Foreign Policy and Comparative Politics. She holds a Bachelor`s (BA) with Honours Degree from City University, London, England in Journalism and EU politics. 

She was awarded the Service Medal for International operations in 2009 and 2012, the Operational Medal for MINURCAR in 2009 and the Operational Medal for ISAF in 2012. She is also a holder of the Marksmanship badge in Silver and was rewarded the French National Defence medal in September 2023. She was selected by the U.S. Embassy in Oslo to represent Norway as an International Visitor Leadership Program delegate September/October 2025.
