9 March: German Mountain Infantry Battalion 233
As part of Exercise Cold Response 2026, the Norwegian Armed Forces, in cooperation with the German Armed Forces, invite media representatives to attend a media event with Mountain Infantry Battalion 233 at Setermoen.

German Mountain Infantry Brigade 23 is participating in Cold Response 2026 with one task force – Mountain Infantry Battalion 233. The unit trains alongside Norwegian and allied forces in order to strengthen cooperation, interoperability and the ability to conduct combined joint operations in Arctic terrain and winter conditions.
The event showcases Germany’s contribution as a close partner nation to Norway and highlights the role of mountain infantry forces in multinational operations in demanding terrain and climate conditions.

- Location: Altevannsveien 5, 9360 Bardu
Programme (subject to change):
The programme will depend on the tactical situation.
Possible scenarios include:
- The unit conducting tactical training in Assembly Area 1 (AA1)
- The unit preparing for a counter-attack and awaiting further orders
- The unit having received a new tactical order and preparing to move out of AA1
- This provides insight into real-time decision-making and operational flexibility during a live exercise.
Please note that all plans depend on the tactical situation the unit is required to handle. The time schedule and programme may change at short notice due to operational requirements.
