Adam David Morgan Svendsen
(Prof./Dr.) Adam D.M. Multi-sector experienced to a senior level, he divides his time between the UK & Scandinavia, helping to advise on both national & regional (European/EU) projects, together with contributing to the research work of various countries’ defence research agencies & intelligence academies, as well as contributing towards the efforts of international organisations, e.g. the UN. He also spearheads the Bridgehead Institute (Research & Consulting - Insight, Training & Education) and is an Affiliated Scholar at the Collective Intelligence Group, IT University Copenhagen (https://ci.itu.dk/).
Trained at European defence & emergency planning colleges, he has lectured at senior/advanced level at the Royal Danish Defence College (FAK), given guest lectures & research seminars at the Royal Netherlands Defence Academy, Copenhagen Business School, Aarhus University (amongst several others), & taught at the University of Nottingham.
As a Professor, he lectures & advises on 'Global Security & Intelligence' for the US Fulbright-recognised 'Global & International Studies' Masters courses at the University of Salamanca, Spain (https://globalandinternationalstudies.com), including thesis supervision & examination.
Remaining an Adjunct Professor with the Walsh School of Foreign Service, he has been a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Peace & Security Studies, Georgetown University, has held a research fellowship based in the Centre for Military Studies, University of Copenhagen, worked as an Associate Consultant at the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies (CIFS/IFF), Denmark, & worked at Chatham House on the International Security Programme & at the IISS, London.
Together with work cited in testimony to the UK Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee (amongst others), contributing to the work of the UK Parliament Office of Science and Technology (POST), & participating in the UK RUSI Strategic Hub on Organised Crime Research, he has multi-sector award-winning international media and communication experience, including authoring several peer-reviewed publications, e.g. numerous articles, chapters, policy & strategy briefs, & the five books: (1) Intelligence Cooperation and the War on Terror: Anglo-American Security Relations after 9/11 (London: Routledge/Studies in Intelligence Series, 2010 [Pbk 2012]); (2) Understanding the Globalization of Intelligence, and (3) The Professionalization of Intelligence Cooperation: Fashioning Method out of Mayhem, both (Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan/Springer, 2012); the intelligence analysis and assessment/estimation futures-orientated textbook: (4) Intelligence Engineering: Operating Beyond the Conventional (New York: Rowman & Littlefield/Security and Professional Intelligence Education Series - SPIES, 2017); as well as (co-authored with Dr. Bruce Garvey, MBA), Navigating Uncertainty using Foresight Intelligence: A Guidebook for Scoping Scenario Options in Cyber and Beyond (Springer, 2024).
He is a Generalist-to-Specialist in M4IS2: Multi-agency, Multi-national, Multi-disciplinary, Multi-domain Information Sharing & Sense-making, in & across: (i) commerce, (ii) academic, (iii) government, (iv) civil society, (v) media, (vi) law enforcement (policing), (vii) military & (viii) non-government/non-profit entities & sectors.
