Additional information
During Joint Viking 2025, a Total Defence exercise will take place in Narvik on March 11. The exercise will involve the Norwegian Armed Forces, police, fire department, healthcare services, Civil Defence, and Narvik Municipality.
The scenario will simulate a drone attack on Bjerkvik Technical Workshop, requiring coordinated response efforts. Emergency services will be received at Elvegårdsmoen, where internal cooperation, triage, and casualty management will take place. Evacuations will be carried out to ROLE 2 (field medical treatment) and UNN Narvik, where a full-scale exercise will be conducted, supported by the Civil Defence and the Army’s Medical Battalion. Meanwhile, Narvik Municipality will establish a next-of-kin center and an evacuation center, with the Civil Defence assisting in shelter management and activating the public warning system at three locations in Narvik.
The public warning system in Narvik will then be triggered, followed by the evacuation of high school students to the Frydenlund shelter in collaboration with the municipality and local schools. This exercise is designed to test crisis management and interoperability between military and civilian emergency services, ensuring effective coordination in handling complex security threats.
Narvik – March 11: Two warning systems will be activated near Idrettens Hus and Narvik Stadium at approximately 08:30 AM.
