The maritime law course supports the general purpose in that after completing the course, the cadets can apply and comply with relevant provisions from maritime legislation and maritime regulation (based on conventions, acts and rules of law) - in future service situations in the officer profession. The course shall equip the cadets with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are necessary to exercise the officer profession in peace, crisis and war in a reflected, justified and responsible manner. The course shall further qualify the cadets such that maritime certificates are in compliance with the STCW convention.
